Western Isles Energy Solutions
TEAS is the local Energy Advisory Service within the Western Isles and has been active in energy advice and environmental projects for almost 15 years. TEAS is a non-profit making organisation run by a voluntary committee.
The last few years have seen many changes within the energy efficiency and renewable energy market and TEAS have developed a number of new projects and services including:
- Fuel poverty research
- Community renewable energy
- Volunteer and front line staff training
- Health sector partnerships
- Schools workshops
- Alternative heating fuels
Energy prices in the Western Isles have increased dramatically over the past five years and it's estimated that half of all islanders pay more than 10% of their net income to keep their homes warm. TEAS provides impartial energy efficiency advice to householders, in the privacy of their own home, to assist reducing bills (where possible) and improve warmth of the property.
Our new energy solutions website offers an online energy advice facility, allowing customers to get tailored information without the need for travel. As most agencies work 9-5 it is sometimes difficult for those working or housebound to seek help and advice. This service will offer a new facility for gaining advice on fuel poverty, energy efficiency, Insulation and renewable enquiries. Our simple online query form means we can directly refer your enquiry on to our in house key services and grants system.
We look to build on our successful Inov8 NRG, Eco Schools, Eco Drama and other school projects by aiming to link in to the Island schools through the project. By providing energy efficiency advice workshops and on-line interactive learning we will work with tomorrow's energy consumers to spread the energy efficiency message in the wider community.
